Summer Day Retreat at West Lexham

West Lexham Estate, West Lexham, Norfolk

A full day of balancing yoga, meditation, organic lunch and free time on the river at West Lexham Estate in the Norfolk countryside.

£100 per person, includes organic plant-based lunch and all sessions

Morning Hatha yoga with pranayama, a shared organic lunch, free time in the gardens and by the river (swimming and paddle-boarding available), then an afternoon of Hatha yoga, meditation and Yoga Nidra before a closing circle. A proper day off.

West Lexham Estate sits in ancient woodland and walled gardens near King's Lynn, and the place itself does much of the work. You arrive to tea or coffee in the garden, take a breath, and begin a day that has been built around rest rather than achievement.

The morning yoga session is ninety minutes of grounded, careful Hatha practice with pranayama woven throughout: longer and more spacious than a weekly class, and suitable for all levels. After a nourishing seasonal organic lunch eaten slowly at a shared table, the middle of the day is yours. Walk in the walled gardens, swim in the natural pool, paddle-board on the river, nap in a hammock, or sit in the June sunshine.

The afternoon practice is quieter and more restorative: softer holds, more support, and the quality of ease that arrives when the body has already moved well once that day. A long guided meditation and Yoga Nidra follow before the closing circle, and the day ends with tea, a snack, and the unhurried goodbye that follows a good day.

Numbers are small, limited to twenty participants. Most people arrive alone and leave having made at least one genuine connection. The retreat is designed to send you home measurably calmer than you arrived.

The day

  1. 9:00am

    Arrival

Arrive at West Lexham Estate and settle in with tea or coffee in the walled gardens or the library.

  2. 9:30am

Opening Circle and Inspiration for the Day

A short gathering to arrive together as a group and set intentions for the day.

  3. 10:30am

    Morning Hatha Yoga and Pranayama

Ninety minutes of grounded, classical Hatha practice with focused breathwork. More spacious than a weekly class, and suitable for all levels.

  4. 12:30pm

    Lunch

A generous, seasonal lunch prepared from local ingredients, eaten slowly at a shared table. Plenty of time to linger over a second cup of tea.

  5. 1:30pm

    Mindful Relaxation in the Elements

The middle of the day is yours. Walk in the walled gardens or ancient woodland, swim in the natural pool, paddle-board on the river, nap in a hammock, or simply sit.

  6. 3:00pm

    Afternoon Hatha Yoga

A gentler, restorative practice: softer holds, more supported shapes, and the quality of ease that comes when the body has already moved well once that day.

  7. 4:30pm

    Guided Meditation

A long, unhurried guided meditation followed by Yoga Nidra: a deeply restoring practice of conscious rest. Many participants describe this as the part of the day they remember longest.

  8. 5:00pm

    Closing Circle

We come back together to close the day — a moment to reflect, to share if you wish, and to carry something of the day's quality forward with you.
